Auction result misses estimated price range

This work of art by Kawai Gyokudo could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2009 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Japanese Art & Design auction, the work A bird amongst bamboo changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,051.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kawai Gyokudo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Suikyo (Gorge) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 47,000.00 (€ 54,060.27).
