Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work Thorny Devil Lizard Dreaming (After Sandstorm), 1996 by Kathleen Petyarre for AUD 11,685.00 (€ 10,889.01). This price was achieved in the auction Important Australian Art at Bonhams in Sidney and was even below the estimate range of AUD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kathleen Petyarre - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Atnangkere Soakage (Mountain Devil Lizard), which sold at auction in December 2019 for USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,267.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Thorny Devil Lizard Dreaming (After Sandstorm), 1996 von Kathleen Petyarre für AUD 11.685,00 (€ 10.889,01) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Bonhams in Sidney erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Kathleen Petyarre mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Atnangkere Soakage (Mountain Devil Lizard) beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.267,75) versteigert wurde.
