Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Aboriginal Art, which included the work Arkerrthe Awelye, Mountain Devil Lizard Dreaming by Kathleen Petyarre. The price achieved of AUD 9,600.00 (€ 5,435.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Kathleen Petyarre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Atnangkere Soakage (Mountain Devil Lizard) in December 2019 with an auction result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,267.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Aboriginal Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Arkerrthe Awelye, Mountain Devil Lizard Dreaming von Kathleen Petyarre zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 9.600,00 (€ 5.435,16) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kathleen Petyarre auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Atnangkere Soakage (Mountain Devil Lizard) im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.267,75).
