The work Portrait of Mary Sturt (1759-?), three-quarter-length, standing, holding a basket of flowers by Catherine Read was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2013. The result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,713.37) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Catherine Read - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Lady Isabella Stanhope, later Countess of Sefton (1748-1819), half-length, in Hussar's costume, with a blue pelisse over a braided red dolman, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,238.28).
