In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, which included the work Portrait of a young man by Karl von Saar. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,742.78), 51% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Karl von Saar; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A young boy, facing right in olive-green coat, red, green and brown checked waistcoat, white shirt and white spotted bright blue tie, short fair hair; cloud and sky background sold at auction in November 2001 with the realized price of GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,153.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young man von Karl von Saar zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.742,78) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Karl von Saar; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A young boy, facing right in olive-green coat, red, green and brown checked waistcoat, white shirt and white spotted bright blue tie, short fair hair; cloud and sky background im November 2001 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 7.637,50 (€ 12.153,67).
