In the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction, the work A young gentleman, in blue coat with black collar, ochre waistcoat with gold buttons, white shirt and black knotted cravat, fair hair and sideburns sold for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,760.20) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Admittedly, works by Karl von Saar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young boy, facing right in olive-green coat, red, green and brown checked waistcoat, white shirt and white spotted bright blue tie, short fair hair; cloud and sky background in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,153.67).
