Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An Extensive Landscape In The Roman Campagna With Cattle And Shepherds by Karel Dujardin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,790.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karel Dujardin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travelling Musicians in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 457,000.00 (€ 307,930.73).
