Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Karel Dujardin could be acquired at Christies in New York in January this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work Three shepherds playing a game of cards in a meadow landscape with ruins changed hands for USD 50,400.00 (€ 46,417.39) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Karel Dujardin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Travelling Musicians in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 457,000.00 (€ 307,930.73).

Safra - Selling Without Reserve wechselte die Arbeit Three shepherds playing a game of cards in a meadow landscape with ruins für USD 50.400,00 (€ 46.417,39) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Karel Dujardin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Travelling Musicians im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 457.000,00 (€ 307.930,73).
