Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Emancipation Approximation: Scene 9 by Kara Walker was auctioned at Phillips in New York in February this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 11,340.00 (€ 10,696.10) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kara Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Negress Notes in May last year with an auction result of USD 529,200.00 (€ 493,150.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Emancipation Approximation: Scene 9 von Kara Walker kam im Februar diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 11.340,00 (€ 10.696,10) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kara Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Negress Notes im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 529.200,00 (€ 493.150,68).
