Artwork auctioned at eight times the upper estimate price
When the work Words and Symbols by K. C. S. Paniker was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than eight times as high at USD 43,000.00 (€ 30,241.23). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by K. C. S. Paniker; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Love sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of GBP 33,600.00 (€ 49,444.67).
Kunstwerk zum Achtfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Words and Symbols von K. C. S. Paniker im September 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 43.000,00 (€ 30.241,23) mehr als achtmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von K. C. S. Paniker; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Love im Mai 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 33.600,00 (€ 49.444,67).
