Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2016 Christies in New York held the auction Liberation through Expression: Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Two Lions by Justin McCarthy. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,375.00 (€ 2,192.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Justin McCarthy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Underwater with Fish and Coral in February last year with an auction result of USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,160.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Liberation through Expression: Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Lions von Justin McCarthy zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.375,00 (€ 2.192,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Justin McCarthy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Underwater with Fish and Coral im Februar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.160,01).
