Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Tournament Of Roses, Circa 1965 by Justin McCarthy for USD 1,500.00 (€ 1,384.79). This price was achieved in the auction Liberation through Expression: Outsider and Vernacular Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Justin McCarthy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Underwater with Fish and Coral in February last year with an auction result of USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,160.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2016 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Tournament Of Roses, Circa 1965 von Justin McCarthy für USD 1.500,00 (€ 1.384,79) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Liberation through Expression: Outsider and Vernacular Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Justin McCarthy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Underwater with Fish and Coral im Februar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.160,01).
