Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Jesus in the Desert by Justin McCarthy was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2003. It changed hands for a price of USD 6,572.50 (€ 6,120.22) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Justin McCarthy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Underwater with Fish and Coral, which sold at auction in February last year for USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,160.01).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 6.572,50 (€ 6.120,22) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Justin McCarthy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Underwater with Fish and Coral beobachtet, die im Februar letzten Jahres für USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.160,01) versteigert wurde.
