Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Sothebys in Cologne held the auction Contemporary Passions, which included the work Refuge by Julie Mehretu. The price achieved of EUR 4,410.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julie Mehretu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Ground (Deep Light) in April 2019 with an auction result of HKD 44,209,000.00 (€ 5,032,271.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in Köln die Auktion Contemporary Passions durch, in der auch die Arbeit Refuge von Julie Mehretu zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 4.410,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julie Mehretu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Ground (Deep Light) im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 44.209.000,00 (€ 5.032.271,67).
