Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price

When the work The Muse of Music by Julian Alden Weir was auctioned at Christies in New York in August 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 27,500.00 (€ 21,863.57). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julian Alden Weir achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nassau, Bahamas in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 459,000.00 (€ 393,316.20).

Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert

Als die Arbeit The Muse of Music von Julian Alden Weir im August 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 6.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 27.500,00 (€ 21.863,57) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julian Alden Weir erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nassau, Bahamas im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 459.000,00 (€ 393.316,20).
