Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Painted Blocks #3 by Judy Chicago. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,012.50 (€ 6,195.88), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Judy Chicago achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Growing Pains from the series Six Views from the Womantree in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 81,900.00 (€ 69,743.68).
