Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Figures Overlooking Falls by Joshua Shaw was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,931.51). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Shaw achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of Dinting Vale, Glossop, Derbyshire in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 44,215.00 (€ 65,805.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Figures Overlooking Falls von Joshua Shaw im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.292,00 (€ 4.931,51) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joshua Shaw erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A view of Dinting Vale, Glossop, Derbyshire im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 44.215,00 (€ 65.805,16).
