Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An extensive landscape with peasants and a priest by a fountain, a circular basilica on a hill beyond by Josephus Augustus Knip was sold in the OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS auction at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 4,182.50 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josephus Augustus Knip achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Maison de Buffon in the Jardin de Plantes, Paris in November 2012 with an auction result of EUR 75,400.00.

Die Arbeit An extensive landscape with peasants and a priest by a fountain, a circular basilica on a hill beyond von Josephus Augustus Knip wurde im November 2003 in der Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 4.182,50 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
