Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life with Apples by Joseph Solman was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,530.00 (€ 1,482.13). Admittedly, works by Joseph Solman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sewing Basket and Lamp in March last year with an auction result of USD 8,925.00 (€ 8,045.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still Life with Apples von Joseph Solman im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.530,00 (€ 1.482,13) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Solman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sewing Basket and Lamp im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.925,00 (€ 8.045,61).
