Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joseph Mallord William Turner could be acquired at Christies in New York in January this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work The Splügen Pass changed hands for USD 1,008,000.00 (€ 928,347.76) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Mallord William Turner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, From Mount Aventine in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 30,322,500.00 (€ 39,035,113.21).
In der Auktion Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E.
