Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900, which included the work The fortress of Ehrenbreitstein from across the Rhine (recto); and A Sketch of a mill at Winnigen on the Mosel (verso) by Joseph Mallord William Turner. The price achieved of GBP 113,400.00 (€ 135,419.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Mallord William Turner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, From Mount Aventine in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 30,322,500.00 (€ 39,035,113.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 durch, in der auch die Arbeit The fortress of Ehrenbreitstein from across the Rhine (recto); and A Sketch of a mill at Winnigen on the Mosel (verso) von Joseph Mallord William Turner zur Versteigerung kam.
