Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, which included the work The Philosopher Off Holyhead, Anglesey by Joseph Heard. The price achieved of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,340.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Heard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840, which sold at auction in April last year for GBP 31,800.00 (€ 37,920.38).

Im November 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Philosopher Off Holyhead, Anglesey von Joseph Heard zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.340,66) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Joseph Heard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840 beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für GBP 31.800,00 (€ 37.920,38) versteigert wurde.
