In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, which included the work The Barque Emilia Heading Into Liverpool And Shown In Two Positions Off The Perch Rock Fort And Lighthouse by Joseph Heard. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,600.00 (€ 22,918.37), 73% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joseph Heard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840 sold at auction in April last year with the realized price of GBP 31,800.00 (€ 37,920.38).

Im November 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Barque Emilia Heading Into Liverpool And Shown In Two Positions Off The Perch Rock Fort And Lighthouse von Joseph Heard zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 15.600,00 (€ 22.918,37) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Joseph Heard; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840 im April letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 31.800,00 (€ 37.920,38).
