Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An outward-bound merchantman passing Anglesey, with a Cunard steamer off her stern and approaching the South Stack lighthouse by Joseph Heard was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,543.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Heard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840, which sold at auction in April last year for GBP 31,800.00 (€ 37,920.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit An outward-bound merchantman passing Anglesey, with a Cunard steamer off her stern and approaching the South Stack lighthouse von Joseph Heard wurde im Oktober 2008 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert.
