Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work Studies of trees by Joseph Farington for GBP 82.25 (€ 137.63). This price was achieved in the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 250.00 – 350.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Farington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The gatehouse on the bridge over the River Severn at Bridgnorth, Shropshire, with the church of St. Leonard beyond in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,585.28).
