Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joseph Cornell could be acquired at Christies in New York in May this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I auction, the work Untitled (Medici Variant) changed hands for USD 567,000.00 (€ 532,194.48) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Cornell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Medici Slot Machine in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 7,781,000.00 (€ 5,704,545.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joseph Cornell konnte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (Medici Variant) für USD 567.000,00 (€ 532.194,48) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Cornell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Medici Slot Machine im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.781.000,00 (€ 5.704.545,45).
