Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Miner and his pit pony underground by Josef Herman was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in August 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 504.00 (€ 427.12). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Herman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Irish Scene in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,614.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Miner and his pit pony underground von Josef Herman im August 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 504,00 (€ 427,12) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Josef Herman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Irish Scene im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 24.000,00 (€ 35.614,79).
