Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by José Villegas could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision auction, the work Un Canal Veneciano (A Venetian Canal) changed hands for GBP 13,700.00 (€ 19,183.54) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by José Villegas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish Siesta in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 579,000.00 (€ 496,143.96).
