The work Spanish Siesta by José Villegas was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2014. It achieved a price of GBP 284,500.00 (€ 366,245.85), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 58%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by José Villegas; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Spanish Siesta sold at auction in May 2018 with the realized price of USD 579,000.00 (€ 496,143.96).

Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von José Villegas; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Spanish Siesta im Mai 2018 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 579.000,00 (€ 496.143,96).
