In November 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision, which included the work La Cosecha (The Harvest) by José Villegas. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,503.23), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by José Villegas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish Siesta in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 579,000.00 (€ 496,143.96).

Im November 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision durch, in der auch die Arbeit La Cosecha (The Harvest) von José Villegas zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 17.503,23) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von José Villegas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Spanish Siesta im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 579.000,00 (€ 496.143,96).
