Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Spanish máscara De Las Escobas (The Masquerade Of The Brooms) by José Gutiérrez Solana was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 116,500.00 (€ 140,192.16). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by José Gutiérrez Solana - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Los Ermitaños, which sold at auction in October 2007 for EUR 360,250.00.
