This work of art by José Agustín Arrieta could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Latin American Art auction, the work El Costeño changed hands for USD 932,500.00 (€ 716,756.34) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Despite this disappointing result, El Costeño is the most expensive artwork by José Agustín Arrieta that we have observed at auction so far.
