This artwork by Jonathan Chapline achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in Hong Kong in June 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction auction, the work Scorpion sold for HKD 113,400.00 (€ 12,318.18) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jonathan Chapline achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Image Gallery (Collecting and Transcribing) in May last year with an auction result of HKD 1,890,000.00 (€ 224,383.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jonathan Chapline erzielte im Juni 2021 bei Phillips in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction wurde die Arbeit Scorpion für HKD 113.400,00 (€ 12.318,18) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jonathan Chapline erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Image Gallery (Collecting and Transcribing) im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.890.000,00 (€ 224.383,56).
