In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art, which included the work Female head study for 'A Naiad' by John William Waterhouse. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 125,000.00 (€ 146,145.28), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.603.750,00 (€ 10.467.756,68).
