Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study For The Head Of Venus In The Awakening Of Adonis by John William Waterhouse was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2016. The price achieved of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 58,458.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).

Die Arbeit Study For The Head Of Venus In The Awakening Of Adonis von John William Waterhouse kam im Dezember 2016 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 50.000,00 (€ 58.458,11) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden.
