Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Country Road by John William Bentley was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,639.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John William Bentley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Village Road, which sold at auction in October 2003 for USD 11,352.50 (€ 9,779.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Country Road von John William Bentley kam im März 2009 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.639,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John William Bentley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Village Road beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für USD 11.352,50 (€ 9.779,05) versteigert wurde.
