Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In August 2002 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work South of France by John William Ashton. Here, the upper estimate of AUD 7,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 7,050.00 (€ 3,950.62). Admittedly, works by John William Ashton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour in November 2000 with an auction result of AUD 32,900.00 (€ 19,912.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im August 2002 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit South of France von John William Ashton zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von AUD 7.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für AUD 7.050,00 (€ 3.950,62) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John William Ashton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 32.900,00 (€ 19.912,56).
