The work The penny whistle by John White was sold in the The Scottish Sale including pictures from the auction at Christies in London in November 2001. The price achieved of GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,739.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by John White have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sketches of some of the Various Classes and Tribes inhabiting the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope and the Interior of South Africa in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 15,735.94).
