It achieved a price of GBP 1,140.00 (€ 1,668.83), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. Admittedly, works by John White have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sketches of some of the Various Classes and Tribes inhabiting the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope and the Interior of South Africa in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 15,735.94).
