Auction result well in line with expectations
The work In the Roman Campagna by John 'Warwick' Smith was auctioned at Christies in London in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,585.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John 'Warwick' Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,100.00 (€
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John 'Warwick' Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.100,00 (€ 21.877,17).
