Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The lower end of Lake Windermere by John 'Warwick' Smith was sold in the Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours including a Fine Collection of Old Master Prints auction at Christies in London in July 2021. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,863.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John 'Warwick' Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 16,100.00 (€ 21,8
