Auction result well in line with expectations
In December this year Bonhams in London held the auction The Grand Tour Sale, which included the work View of Amalfi, on the Gulf of Salerno with figures in the foreground by John 'Warwick' Smith. The price achieved of GBP 1,280.00 (€ 1,474.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John 'Warwick' Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,100.00 (€
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.100,00 (€ 21.877,17).
