Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Loch landscape with castle traditionally identified as Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe, Argyllshire by John Varley was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,147.50 (€ 1,329.69) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Varley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Plains of Marathon in January 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 29,284.45).

Die Arbeit Loch landscape with castle traditionally identified as Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe, Argyllshire von John Varley kam im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.147,50 (€ 1.329,69) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Varley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Plains of Marathon im Januar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 29.284,45).
