Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A view of Harrow from Hampstead by John Varley was auctioned at Christies in London in December this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,150.00 (€ 3,628.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Varley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Plains of Marathon in January 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 29,284.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A view of Harrow from Hampstead von John Varley kam im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.150,00 (€ 3.628,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Varley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Plains of Marathon im Januar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 29.284,45).
