The work Study of trees by John Varley was worth GBP 3,780.00 (€ 4,481.62) to a buyer in March last year. This price was achieved in the auction Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by John Varley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Plains of Marathon in January 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 29,284.45).

Die Arbeit Study of trees von John Varley war einem Käufer im März letzten Jahres GBP 3.780,00 (€ 4.481,62) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art bei Christies in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Varley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Plains of Marathon im Januar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 29.284,45).
