Auction result misses estimated price range
In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work Beddgelert Bridge, with Snowdon beyond by John Varley for GBP 3,800.00 (€ 4,537.87). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by John Varley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Plains of Marathon in January 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 29,284.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Beddgelert Bridge, with Snowdon beyond von John Varley für GBP 3.800,00 (€ 4.537,87) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Varley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Plains of Marathon im Januar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 29.284,45).
