Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Vachon could be acquired at Christies in New York in December 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II auction, the work Kansas; and Untitled, c. 1938 changed hands for USD 625.00 (€ 481.77) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Vachon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roadside Diner; and Hub Cap Display, U.S. 1, New Jersey, July 1947, which sold at auction in December 2011 for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,541.66).
