A top price for John Vachon - as previously expected
The work Roadside Diner; and Hub Cap Display, U.S. 1, New Jersey, July 1947 by John Vachon was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2011. The price achieved of USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,541.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Roadside Diner; and Hub Cap Display, U.S. 1, New Jersey, July 1947 is the most expensive artwork by John Vachon that we have observed at auctions so far.
