The work The Taj Mahal from the banks of the Yamuna River by John Sutton was sold in the Travel, Science and Natural History auction at Christies in London in April 2012. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,226.47), 43% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Sutton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Britannia, Westward, Lulworth and White Heather racing in Christchurch Bay with the Needles beyond, 1927 in February 2005 with an auction result of USD 7,200.00 (€ 5,424.14).

Die Arbeit The Taj Mahal from the banks of the Yamuna River von John Sutton wurde im April 2012 in der Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.226,47) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Sutton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Britannia, Westward, Lulworth and White Heather racing in Christchurch Bay with the Needles beyond, 1927 im Februar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.200,00 (€ 5.424,14).
