Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Stretching The Lead - The 'Lady Anne' Racing 'Shenandoah Of Sark' And 'Zaca A Te Moana', America'S Cup Jubilee, August 2001, Off Yarmouth by John Steven Dews for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,229.80). This price was achieved in the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Steven Dews achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Westward Reaching Through Cowes Roads in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 178,095.02).
